Our program is continually growing and offering more opportunities for our students to be musically involved both inside and outside of school. Learn more about our ensembles below:
6th Grade Beginning Band
Students are eligible to join band starting in 6th grade. Students are able to try out the various instruments, decide what they like, and are also evaluated by their directors. After the first couple of weeks, each student is assigned an instrument for the school year. Instrument rental information is available on our Bandwagon page or students may rent through the school (unless an instrument is already owned). Students then begin working on the fundamentals of music, applying it to their own playing, and learning how to play in an ensemble setting.
7th Grade Band
In 7th grade band, students are able to continue building on the fundamentals of music learned in beginning band and further refine their playing ability. Students will be introduced to higher level repertoire and will have more opportunities to be involved in band (such as honor band and adjudicated performance events).
8th Grade Band
In 8th grade band, fundamentals and repertoire are introduced that prepare students to perform at the high school level. These students also participate in communal performances, honor band auditions, and attend adjudicated events to evaluate their performance and continue their growth as musicians.
Pep Band
Our pep band performs at several home basketball games throughout the season. It is open to any student in 7th or 8th grade who wants to participate and play stands tunes. Practices are after school from 3-4pm on Thursdays.
